Man arrested after allegedly shooting another man inside Aiken condo

AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WJBF) – A man has been arrested after another man was found with a gunshot wound inside a condominium in Aiken.
The incident happened on Tuesday, August 8 at around 11:18 p.m. on the 1500 block of Hamilton Drive in Aiken.
According to authorities, Chadwin L. Valls, 37, was arrested on Wednesday August 24 by the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Investigators say officers from the Aiken Public Safety Department responded to multiple reports of multiple shots being fired in the area.
According to the incident report, witnesses told officers that a man had been shot in a nearby apartment.
Officers say they found a man lying on the floor of the second floor with a gunshot wound.
Investigators say another man was found inside the back bathroom, and he told officers he was protecting the two children he had with him.
According to the incident report, Valls was not at the scene and notes indicate that Vallis was the victim’s neighbor.
The man who was shot was transported to Augusta University EMS for treatment.
According to the ADPS, an arrest warrant was issued against Valls on August 18 and Valls surrendered on the 24th.
Authorities say Valls is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, 1st Assault degree and battery, and firearm discharge in a dwelling, and he is currently being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.
According to Aiken County Detention Center booking information, Valls has a Texas driver’s license and was posted on a combined bond of $35,000.
